Meiso starts out somewhere between the soft whispers of jazz brushes and the sound of hard beats breaking. With noise and static flowing in and out of perfect hip-hop harmony, DJ Krush paints vinyl textures with a samurai's heart. Working in alliance with other beat-noise artists like DJ Shadow and rappers like Guru, the Japanese DJ manages to give a fresh sound to every track. The disc spins you through each beat with a slow and fluid anticipation, every track taking you to another moment of pure hip-hop paradise. Meiso can soothe the troubled soul at the same moment it drives forward to hip-hop's future.

Alternative Press (8/96): "Who could pass up an opportunity to call DJ Krush inscrutable?....When Krush-san expands and expounds on ambient/industrial material reflecting the dark underbelly of Tokyo, this record really starts to work..."
